| WINTER IN ALASKA | |

OK, it gets cold and snowy here, but that is one of the reasons I moved here! Anchorage is actually very mild compared to some parts of Alaska. The colder it gets, the happier I am! I get ecstatic in a blizzard and my friends and co-workers want to strangle me! |

The above pictures are in Healy, Alaska. I visited there in 1992, my first winter up here. These pictures were taken when it was 50 degrees below zero! It just proves the old adage is wrong. It never is too cold to snow! |

Mt McKinley! I finally got a picture of it without clouds surrounding the top. This mountain is so big that it creates its own weather patterns. |
This was a very frosty day in Anchorage! |

| 30 miles south of Anchorage is Portage Glacier. These are two views of it. The ice blocks in the front are its "calves". The glacier is the large ice flow in the back. | |

Exit Glacier, located just north of Seward, is the most accessible glacier in Alaska. The left hand photo I took with a normal lens. The right hand is with a telephoto lens. Farther along the road is a visitor's center with tons of information and a pathway to walk right up to it! |

Thelma (on left) and Louisie do not like walking though snow! These pictures were taken in October. The spots are the leaves from the trees that hadn't fallen before the snow came! Notice how we shoveled a path for them. it is hard to be a lil' pug when there is deep snow! |

This is Summit Pass. The highest point between Seward and Anchorage. I took this photo in mid-April! |
